According to data provided by FIPA (Agency for the promotion of foreign investment), the amount of foreign investments in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2009 was approximately 452 million €.
The sector that has attracted more investment has been in production (176 million euro-39% of total investments), followed by the commercial sector (92 million euro-20% of total investments) and banking (62 million EUR-14% of total investments).
The main investor countries were:
- Austria - € 77.8 million;
- Slovenia - € 59.2 million;
- Germany - € 51.5 million;
- Turkey - 47.2 million €
followed by Croatia, Serbia and Russia.
FIPA has also stressed that for the next investment sectors most promising in the energy sector, agriculture and the tourism sector.
This year, the privatization of strategic companies in the country should increase foreign investment.
